Aisha, the wife of the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has paid a goodwill visit to ex–Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia.
Hajiya Aisha Buhari made the visit alongside members of her family, among them her daughter, Hanan.
Atiku Abubakar disclosed the meeting through photographs posted on his social media accounts, noting that he felt privileged to receive them.
“I had the pleasure of welcoming Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the wife of former President Muhammadu Buhari, her daughter Hanan, and other members of her family during their visit to Saudi Arabia.
“Both the former First Lady and her family, like myself, are in the Kingdom to perform the lesser hajj.”
Atiku Abubakar and the late Muhammadu Buhari were dominant actors in Nigeria’s political landscape and were long-time rivals, having contested against each other in multiple presidential elections.
Despite their opposing political paths, the two statesmen regularly recognised and respected each other’s roles in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic journey.
