United States cleric Pastor Mark Burns said President Donald Trump told him that he did not post the video depicting the country’s former president and his wife, Barack and Michelle Obama, as apes.
He made this known in a statement on his X account Friday.
His comment comes amid controversies over a video released on Trump’s Truth Social on Friday morning, which depicted the Obamas as apes.
The video, now deleted, represents a racist slur used by white supremacists against Blacks.
Reacting, Burns said, “The President made it clear to me that this post was made by a staffer and not by him.”
The cleric called for the sacking of the staffer who posted the video.
“My recommendation to the President was direct and firm.” That staffer should be fired immediately, and the president should publicly condemn this action,” he wrote on X.
