The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops of the Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 15 kidnap victims after repelling a terrorist assault in Marge, located in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In a statement released on its official X account, the army said that the operation, which took place on Saturday, was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of armed terrorists engaged in criminal activities in the region.
The army reported that, acting promptly on this intelligence, troops were deployed to Marge, where they confronted the terrorists.
“A fierce gun battle ensued as the troops engaged the criminals with superior firepower. Unable to withstand the military assault, the terrorists fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning their captives in the process,” the statement noted.
It further stated, “The successful operation was executed without any casualties among the troops, highlighting the professionalism and effectiveness of the soldiers involved.
“All 15 rescued victims were safely reunited with their families shortly after the operation, providing relief to their loved ones and the affected community.”
The statement concluded by emphasizing that this latest rescue operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping throughout the North-West.
It noted that security forces have continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, rescuing victims and restoring peace in communities affected by insecurity.
The army called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
