On Wednesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined the conditions necessary for a potential conclusion to the conflict, asserting that the only method to cease hostilities would be through international assurances that guarantee a permanent cessation of all assaults.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian also demanded reparations and emphasized that Iran’s “legitimate rights” must be acknowledged.
While he did not clarify which rights he was referring to, analysts of Iranian domestic affairs suggest that he might have been alluding to the selection of a new supreme leader and the necessity for international acknowledgment.
Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new religious leader and head of state.
Trump indicated that the new leader should anticipate considerable challenges.
“I don’t believe he can live in peace,” Trump remarked, without providing additional information.
This statement follows Pezeshkian’s recent reassurance to the Iranian populace that the nation continues to function despite the bombing of his office the previous night.
