The head of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has urged Nigerian political leaders to focus on the well-being of the people and create laws that help improve their lives.
Kumuyi made the appeal during a visit to the palace of HRH Kelvin Anugwo, Eze Ekpeye Logbo III of the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality, in Ahoada, Rivers State, before the church’s global crusade in that area.
After talking to journalists following the meeting with the traditional ruler, Kumuyi said that political leaders should always remember the power the people have given them and make sure that how they run the country helps reduce the hardships and problems that Nigerians are going through.
He said, “My message to the country is that leaders should focus on the people and prioritize the people’s needs over their own interests.
“The politicians were chosen to help and benefit the people. Let them remember why we chose them in the first place. The people are waiting to see the results of their efforts to help us overcome the problems and difficulties we are facing.”
He also said that clergy members from all over the country are praying for political leaders to be successful in providing good leadership and effective governance.
Kumuyi said his visit to the palace was part of getting things ready for the church’s worldwide crusade in Ahoada.
The theme of the crusade is “The All-Sufficient Jesus.” He explained that the crusade is meant to teach people about how Jesus Christ is enough for all their needs—spiritual, emotional, social, and material.
“A king arrives and we open our hearts to each other because we all want the same thing. Kumuyi said, “I want to be a blessing to the people of this kingdom, and he is the resident king and leader.
“Christ is the King of kings. He wants everyone to feel completely happy and taken care of. God is going to do amazing things in the lives of people.”
In his comments, Eze Kelvin Anugwo said the community has felt a lot more peace since Kumuyi last held a global crusade in the kingdom.
The monarch said that the cleric’s prayers and teachings helped bring more unity and peace to the Ekpeye community. He said that people who used to feel unsafe can now live in a more calm and secure way.
“At some point, we faced problems where we couldn’t close our eyes and fall asleep. Since he came to visit and prayed for the Ekpeye people, there has been a lot more peace around here,” he said.
He also said that the community will start a local security group next week to help keep the area safe and peaceful. The monarch said that this initiative is meant to improve the community’s security system and help keep things stable over time.
