The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, has extended his congratulations to Muslims nationwide on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir. He has urged road users to celebrate in a responsible manner to ensure a festive period free from accidents.
In a statement released by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Marshal praised the Muslim Ummah for their dedication, sacrifice, discipline, and adherence to the principles of Islam.
He encouraged the faithful to uphold the values of patience, obedience, love, and peaceful coexistence, which he emphasized as fundamental to the essence of Eid-el-Kabir.
According to Mohammed, the celebration, which symbolizes sacrifice, submission, and compassion for humanity, also embodies the principles necessary for safety and order on the nation’s roads.
He pointed out that numerous road traffic accidents can be prevented if road users practice patience, caution, and respect for traffic laws.
The FRSC leader thus appealed to motorists, passengers, pedestrians, and all road users to refrain from speeding, reckless overtaking, overloading, driving under the influence, route violations, and other hazardous behaviors that could jeopardize lives and property.
While wishing Muslims a peaceful, joyful, and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Mohammed reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to enhancing road safety through increased patrols, strategic personnel deployment, prompt rescue services, and ongoing collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
He also called on the public to assist the Corps by reporting accidents, road blockages, and emergencies via the FRSC toll-free emergency number, 122, and the National Traffic Radio platform at 107.1FM, to facilitate swift responses and life-saving actions.
The Corps Marshal further encouraged Nigerians to utilize the festive season to foster unity, tolerance, national harmony, and collective responsibility in order to create a safer road environment and a more peaceful society.
