Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has stated that Chelsea can only be competitive if they enhance their goalkeeping situation.
Carragher’s comments came in response to the Blues’ 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain during the first leg of the Champions League last-16 on Wednesday night.
The match was tied at 2-2 when an error by Filip Jorgensen allowed PSG to score through Vitinha.
Liam Rosenior chose Jorgensen over Robert Sanchez, but Carragher emphasizes that Chelsea needs to seek a new solution.
“Chelsea did not deserve to lose 5-2, but they have only themselves to blame for that,” Carragher remarked on CBS Sports.
“I have been critical of Chelsea for quite some time. They cannot progress further until they address the goalkeeping position. I have been consistently stating this.”
