Abdulrasheed Maina, who once headed the Pension Reform Task Team, has alleged that Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, misappropriated massive sums of money during his tenure.
According to Maina, the funds so far recovered by the authorities represent only a small fraction of what Malami is alleged to have taken while in office.
He made these claims in a widely circulated video online, where he also demanded a thorough investigation into Malami’s activities.
Maina stated that Malami diverted large amounts of public funds, adding that what has been uncovered does not amount to even 25 percent of the total.
He emphasized that his expertise lies in tracking and recovering stolen government assets, regardless of where they are hidden, which he said has made him a target.
He further alleged that additional assets traceable to Malami remain undiscovered, casting doubt on whether the properties already under investigation reflect the full scale of the matter.
According to him, the recoverable funds linked to Malami far exceed what has been revealed so far, questioning how properties valued at N217 billion could represent the total assets involved.
“Malami allegedly stole a lot of funds. What government has seen so far is not even one quarter, because my specialty is the recovery of public funds. I trace funds wherever they are, and that is why they have been after me.
“We can recover these funds from Malami; they are more than what has been seen. What are N217billion properties?” he asked.
