The National Legal Adviser, NLA, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has extended his congratulations to the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, on her receipt of the traditional title “Mairamar Kasar Hausa I”, which translates to First Daughter of Hausa Land, bestowed upon her by the Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Faruk Umar.
Kankia said that the traditional accolade serves as a testament to Musawa’s rising prominence and her contributions to the advancement of the cultural heritage of Hausa land.
The APC Legal Adviser expressed his long-held belief that Musawa would ultimately secure a position that would allow her to represent Hausa land and its cultural legacy at a prominent level.
“I am confident that one day she will achieve a role that embodies the representation of Hausa land and its heritage,” Kankia stated in his message of congratulations.
He described the conferment as a notable acknowledgment for the minister, especially in light of her current responsibilities at the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy.
Kankia also reminisced about how Musawa had once been referred to by some as “Queen Amina of our time”, drawing a parallel to the legendary Hausa warrior queen, Amina of Zazzau.
The APC Chieftain noted that this description highlights the high expectations surrounding Musawa’s public role and her ability to promote the cultural identity and heritage of the Hausa people.
The Emir of Daura, a prominent traditional authority in northern Nigeria, conferred the title upon Musawa.
This recognition coincides with the Federal Government’s heightened efforts to establish Nigeria’s cultural, tourism, and creative sectors as pivotal elements for economic growth, job creation, and the reinforcement of national identity.
In her capacity as Minister, Musawa is responsible for overseeing Nigeria’s arts, cultural heritage, tourism resources, and creative industries, which the government increasingly regards as vital components of the nation’s diversification strategy.
Kankia encouraged Musawa to regard this traditional honour not solely as a personal accolade but as a duty to the people and heritage she represents.
He expressed his belief that the minister would persist in utilizing her position to promote Nigeria’s cultural heritage and enhance the role of the creative and tourism sectors in national development
