Mr. Osborne Umahi, son of the Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest the chairmanship election in Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead of the August 2026 council polls in Ebonyi State.
Currently managing his father’s business interests, Osborne obtained the nomination form at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki, accompanied by party stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters from Ohaozara Local Government Area.
At the secretariat, he was welcomed by members of the APC state executive committee, led by State Chairman Mr. Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
Okoro-Emegha described Umahi as “an intelligent and capable young politician and businessman,” expressing confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and “take Ohaozara Local Government Area to greater heights.”
In his remarks, Osborne Umahi expressed gratitude to the people of Ohaozara for nominating him, saying he “would not betray the confidence reposed in him.”
He further pledged that, if elected, he would “discharge his duties diligently, fairly and without fear or favour.”
Umahi highlighted youth empowerment as a central focus of his administration, noting that, as a young person, he understands the challenges facing youths in the area.
“My priority will be youth empowerment and the introduction of innovative programmes that will uplift young people and create opportunities for them,” he said.
He also promised to maintain his father’s legacy in infrastructure development, assuring residents that his administration would prioritize projects with a tangible, positive impact across the local government.
The Ohaozara Local Government chairmanship election is scheduled for August 2026.
